The Amazing Web Site Traffic Magnet
IBM (not the Big Blue variety)
I'm a regular listener of the popular "Internet Business Mastery" podcast, which is produced by two pretty cool dudes named Sterling and Jay. They have a business by the same name, and from what I understand they make a pretty nice living from it. I admire them for what they've done and the lives they've changed.
The Concept of Attracting Traffic
Recently they did a series about this thing they call the Traffic Attraction Formula. The concept of Traffic Attraction came from an actual technique they've been using in their own businesses for many years. It's a technique that works so well, and is so easy to implement, you can hardly believe it. It's all about a highly effective way of driving traffic to your web site.
In essence, you take one thing you do regularly, say podcasting. You get that down to a system so you're churning out your podcasts every week, spending one or two hours on that. Now you take that podcast and you get it transcribed, and voila! Now you have a transcript to post as value-added content your web site.
Then you might take some key learning points from your podcast and create a slideshow presentation out of it and post it up to slideshare.com. Make it into self-running slideshow movie and add voiceover and put it on YouTube.
A few months later you take all your transcripts and you rewrite them into an eBook or a special report. Use that to give away as a freebie to get people to sign up to your newsletter. Or even sell it as a product on eBay.
So take your 1-2 hours of podcasting and explode that investment into all these other things. You could even hire a virtual assistant to do all the explosion work for you in a couple hours a week.
Doing all this drives traffic back to your web site where you're promoting your products and services. It ATTRACTS TRAFFIC. Hence the name Traffic Attraction Formula. And that's exactly what we want!
The Art of Turning A Resonator Into a Product
So that's pretty cool right? Yeah, I thought so too. In fact, I loved it. Apparently a lot of their listeners loved it because they got so many inquiries about their traffic attraction formula that they decided to turn it into a seminar and charge a couple thousand bucks for it. The class filled up in like 2 DAYS. That's really impressive.
Of course the devil is in the details, but I'm sure you get the drift, just like I did when I heard it. It struck a powerful chord with me because it's very similar to the "content re-use" concept we cover in detail in the E-Marketing for Small Business programs, but Sterling and Jay have taken it several steps further.
Don't Hesitate, Do It Now
Anyway, it was a total Aha! moment for me. I immediately, I mean like THAT DAY, started adding audio and video to my e-marketing. I had been thinking I'd try doing some audio a couple of months from now, and video wasn't even on my radar yet. I don't even know if I did it the way they teach in their program, but I don't even care. I just did it, I just plowed ahead and figured it out the best I could. That's what you do when you're a small business owner and you're trying to maximize your resources.
It's too early to tell how quickly I'll see results, but I'm cautiously optimistic.
